The night the old courthouse bell rang at 3 AM and nobody claimed it
Honestly I never believed in the ghost stories around here until about six months ago. My buddy and I were camping out near the abandoned courthouse in Millbrook just to mess around. At exactly 3 AM that bell started ringing clear as day even though it's been locked up for 20 years. We ran back to his truck so fast I left my sleeping bag behind. Next morning we asked around town and three different old timers just shrugged like it was normal. Has anyone else had a weird experience with that courthouse or is it just me?

Jumped right out of my seat reading that. You actually left your sleeping bag behind and nobody even blinked when you asked about the bell? That's wild.

Check the weather records for that night. Low pressure systems can make old metal expand and contract weird. I had a similar thing happen with an old firehouse bell up in Vermont. Turned out a cold front moved through right around 3 AM and the temperature drop made the bell shift on its rusty mount. Still creepy but at least it's explainable. If you really want peace of mind go back during the day and see if there's any loose masonry or tree branches pressing against the bell tower walls.
