Compared Starlink vs the local WISP in my area and it was no contest
I ran a speed test on my WISP connection in central Vermont last month and got 8 Mbps down on a good day. Then my neighbor let me try his Starlink for a week and I was pulling 120 Mbps steady during peak hours. The WISP charged $90 a month for that slow connection and Starlink is $120 but actually works. I canceled the WISP after 3 days of testing because I couldn't believe the difference. Has anyone else here made the switch and seen their latency drop too?

Wait, did your WISP guy actually try to sell you on the idea that latency is just "placement"? That is such a load of crap. I had a similar argument with my WISP where they kept saying my speeds were fine and it was my "old router" causing the lag. Did you notice a big difference in things like Zoom calls or just general web browsing where pages used to take forever to load?

My internet was so slow I actually timed my downloads with a sundial, no joke. Made the switch to Starlink last month and my WISP guy tried to tell me the latency drop was just "a placement issue." Now I'm streaming 4K video while my neighbor still watches his Netflix buffer through a straw. Couldn't believe the difference in online gaming too went from getting kicked out of lobbies to actually landing shots. Starlink's been solid even during Vermont snowstorms which is saying something for my luck.
