Just had a guy explain the whole bus route to me like I was five
I was waiting for the 72 bus in Denver with my headphones on and this older dude just starts telling me I'm at the wrong stop for downtown, even though the sign clearly says it goes there. He spent like 4 minutes explaining how the route loops around and how I'd end up in the suburbs if I wasn't careful. Has anyone else had a random stranger just assume you're lost and give you a full lecture?

The guy probably meant well but yeah, some people just can't help playing tour guide even when nobody asked for it. Maybe he's told that same story to like fifty other people that week.

Actually read something about this the other day in a psychology blog. They called it "narrative overload" or something like that, where people repeat their stories so many times they start believing their own version more than what actually happened. Probably doesn't help that the guy thinks he's being helpful but just ends up making everyone roll their eyes. I've had it happen at work where my coworker tells the same client story every single time someone new walks in the break room. You think they'd notice people leaving mid sentence by now, right? Has anyone here ever actually called someone out on it or do you just nod and walk away?
