Unpopular take on getting car inspected at the Kittery station
I waited nearly 2 hours at the Kittery inspection station last Saturday morning because everyone says they're the fastest. Turns out they had one guy working and a line of 12 cars ahead of me. I could have driven 15 minutes up to the place on Route 236 in Eliot and been done in 20 minutes flat. Has anyone else had better luck at the smaller shops over the main state stations?

Heard from a buddy who works at a garage in Portsmouth that the state stations are always understaffed on weekends. He said they purposely schedule only a couple guys because the overtime budget gets cut every year. So you end up waiting forever while the smaller shops run circles around them. That lines up with what you saw at Kittery for sure. Those little private places on Route 236 know their business depends on moving cars fast, so they keep enough guys on the clock.

Have you tried the place in Kittery Foreside across from the post office?

Oh yeah the place across from the post office is amazing. I went last weekend and got their lobster roll and it was honestly the best I've had in years. The bun was perfectly toasted and they didn't drown it in mayo which I really appreciate. Plus the little side of coleslaw they give you is super fresh and crunchy.
