Buddy from Manchester told me I was overcomplicating my winter car kit

He just said 'dude, a $5 bag of kitty litter and a candle works better than half that crap you got' and honestly after getting stuck on 93 last month I finally get it. Anyone else ditch the fancy gear for the cheap stuff?

So did the candle trick actually work for you or was it more of a mental comfort thing? I keep seeing people swear by it but I'm still skeptical about having an open flame in the car when I'm already stressed and freezing.

I actually saw a video where a guy tested this and the candle barely raised the temp at all. He said it's mostly just the feeling of having a little light and warmth near you that helps people calm down. My take is skip the fire and just bring a good thermos of hot tea.
