Hot take: Old fiberglass batts beat new blown-in cellulose for soundproofing
I was fixing a wall in a studio and used leftover batts instead of cellulose. The client said the noise drop was way bigger than expected. Do you think batts are underrated for sound control?

Wait, how are you even measuring that noise drop? I've seen guys swear they can "feel" a difference just by yelling into a wall. You need a real decibel meter to know for sure.

Fair point about needing a meter for hard numbers, @park.caleb. But that perceived difference people feel isn't totally fake. Your ears adjust to the new background hum, so voices and TVs don't have to fight as hard. A meter shows the drop, but the feeling of quiet is real too.

Remember that adjustment takes a few days though.
