My string of pearls was dying until I tried the bottom watering trick
I've had this string of pearls for about 8 months now and it was looking really sad, with lots of shriveled leaves and some rot near the base. I tried watering from the top like I do with my other succulents but it just kept getting worse. Last month I started putting the pot in a shallow dish of water for 20 minutes instead... and let me tell you, the difference is night and day. Now I only water when the soil feels bone dry, and I've got new growth popping out all over. Has anyone else had better luck with bottom watering for these picky plants?

And here I thought my string of pearls was just being dramatic and punishing me for not singing to it enough. I tried the bottom watering thing too after my top watering routine basically turned the pot into a swampy death trap. The soil stays dry on top and the leaves aren't sitting in moisture, so I'm with you on this being a game changer for these drama queens.

Wait, you were getting ROT from top watering? That's insane, I thought succulents basically live for top down watering. How deep is your pot, like is it one of those shallow ones? I bottom water my pothos but always figured pearls needed the leaves to stay dry, not the opposite.
