Vent: My take on the Roanoke clue did a full flip
I always believed the 'Croatoan' carving pointed to the settlers heading south. A recent podcast episode discussed how tribal alliances could explain their integration. Now I'm leaning towards them blending with a local community. How do you folks interpret this mystery?

The Croatoan link to the Lumbee tribe has some solid ground. They were the closest friendly group and their oral history has those weird early European names popping up centuries later.

Paige_murphy98, that Croatoan link seems pretty weak to me. Oral history with old names doesn't count as strong evidence. It's just not a big deal.
