Just realized the difference between a proper pre-start check and a quick glance is a $500 tow bill

Had to get my skid steer pulled out of a muddy ditch in Spokane last Tuesday because I missed a loose track tensioner. The five minutes I 'saved' in the morning cost me half a grand and a whole afternoon. What's the dumbest little thing you've ever missed on a walk-around that caused a big headache?

Read a story once about a guy who forgot to check his trailer hitch pin. The whole thing came off on the highway.

Actually @paige_murphy98, the pin just stops the hitch from sliding out, the ball keeps it attached.

Wait, is that actually possible? My buddy's trailer came unhitched last year and it was just rolling down the road behind his truck, still attached by the safety chains. Scared the crap out of him.
