Hot take: I stopped using a tail comb for sectioning and my speed improved.
Everyone insisted it was essential, but after a frustratingly slow day last month, I switched to just my fingers for basic one-inch sections on a standard bob. Has anyone else found a tool they were taught to rely on actually slows them down?

Tail combs are like training wheels, you gotta ditch them eventually.

Oh man, I felt this so hard! I stubbornly used a tail comb for years because it felt like the "right" way. My sections were always so neat but so slow. Totally agree with @mary_patel59 about them being training wheels. My fingers just move faster now for most basic cuts, and honestly, the sections are good enough.
