The street sign on my block changed overnight and I'm the only one who remembers the old one

I walk my dog past the corner of Maple and 5th every single morning. Last Tuesday, the sign clearly said 'Maple Ave' in white letters on a green background. Wednesday morning, it was suddenly 'Maple Street' in black on white. I asked three neighbors and they all said it's always been Maple Street. I checked my phone photos from last month and the old sign is in the background, plain as day. Has anyone else had a public thing near them just switch like that with no record?

Whoa, that's seriously weird. It reminds me of this diner by my old apartment that just vanished one day, like the building was never there. I went to point it out to a friend and there was just a vacant lot with old weeds. He swore nothing had ever been there. Makes you wonder what else just slides by without anyone noticing, you know?

Man, the real question is who changed it. I had a stop sign replaced overnight once, and the next day a city truck was just parked down the block like they were watching. Makes you think someone's testing if we'll notice these little edits to our world.
