My back started yelling at me after a big storefront job
Spent all yesterday hauling those heavy glass panels into place and now I can barely stand up straight. Made an appointment with my chiropractor, but I know I need to work on my lifting form. What do you guys do to keep your back from giving out?

@lucaspatel is right about bracing your stomach. I learned to take a sharp breath in and tighten everything before the lift. It locks your whole middle section. Makes a huge difference with heavy stuff.

Yeah, glass panels are no joke. A buddy of mine wrecked his back moving a marble countertop because he kept reaching too far out. He learned the hard way to get right up next to the weight and lift with his legs, not his spine. A few weeks of bird-dog exercises really helped him build up the stability he needed.

Did your buddy stick with just bird-dogs for his back? I messed mine up carrying a big toolbox down some stairs. My doc told me to add side planks and glute bridges into my routine. Those really helped me get stronger in the right spots. I make a point to brace my stomach now before I pick up anything awkward. It saved me when I had to move a thick glass tabletop last month.
