Just wasted $300 on a cheap glass cutting wheel set

Bought a no-name brand cutter wheel kit online for a big storefront job last month. Figured I'd save some cash over the good stuff. Every single cut on the 1/4 inch clear had a bad edge or a chip, ruining three panes. Had to stop the job, send my helper to the supplier for a proper cutter, and eat the cost of the glass. That $50 'deal' cost me about $250 in wasted material and an hour of labor. Anyone have a cutter wheel brand they trust that won't break the bank?

Oof, that's a rough lesson to learn the hard way (been there, but with a tile saw that basically just made expensive dust). The cheap tools tax is real, and it always shows up at the worst possible time. For what it's worth, I've had good luck with the basic Toyo cutters for general stuff, they're not crazy expensive. That whole "buy nice or buy twice" saying hits different when you're literally staring at a pile of chipped glass.

Honestly, sometimes the cheap tool is the right call. If you only need to cut glass once for a single craft project, dropping a hundred bucks on a pro cutter is nuts. That bargain bin cutter gets the job done and then you toss it. Not every tool needs to be a forever purchase. My buddy used a five dollar cutter to fix his window and it worked fine. The "buy nice" crowd forgets that most people aren't running a shop.
