Update: My old propane torch setup almost cost me a piece in the studio last week.

I used to run the oxygen way too high thinking it made a cleaner flame, but after a piece cracked from thermal shock, my mentor in Austin showed me a lower, wider heat spread that changed everything for my sculptural work... anyone else adjust their gas mix after a close call?

Wait, more oxygen was the safe bet? That's wild, I totally thought the same thing.

Seriously? A tiny crack from that? Sounds like overthinking it to me.

Wait, you were running the oxygen too high? I always thought more oxygen was the safe bet for a clean flame. The idea that it actually caused a crack from thermal shock is a real eye-opener for me. That must have been a scary moment in the studio. Your mentor's tip about a lower, wider heat spread makes total sense now.
