Serious question, my latest cup developed a weird bulge on the side

I was blowing a simple cup and one side puffed out more than the rest while I was shaping it. From what I've seen, moving the pipe slower might help keep the heat even. Has anyone else run into this and fixed it?

Read a forum post where someone had the same bulge problem. They said it's from not heating the glass evenly all around. When you blow, if one side is hotter, it stretches out more. Slowing your pipe turn helps, but you also need to watch the flame pattern. Another guy mentioned using a wet newspaper to cool the bulge area faster. Just keep practicing the spin speed and heat control.

That wet newspaper trick ruby_reed48 mentioned, how often do you use it?

Totally get that, uneven heat is a killer. My last bowl did the same thing, just a weird bubble on one side. Slowing the spin was a game changer for me, it lets the heat soak in more evenly before you start to blow. The wet paper trick works in a pinch to cool a hot spot, but getting the spin right from the start is the real fix. It's all about that steady, slow turn in the flame.
