Am I the only one who thought the Pittsburgh marver was just a flat slab?

I was at a workshop in Seattle last year and saw an artist using the curved edge of their marver to shape a stem. I'd only ever used mine flat on the table for about five years. It completely changed how I handle basic pulls. Has anyone else found a simple tool they were using wrong for way too long?

Feels bad man, I've definitely been there. I was using the back of a pair of tweezers to try and crease some cane work for like two years before someone showed me a proper brass paddle. Felt like such a dummy when I finally tried the real tool and it took like ten seconds instead of ten minutes. Solidarity on feeling like you've been working the hard way for way too long.

Workshop in Seattle" made me think of that time I saw someone use a credit card to scrape a palette clean. I'd been using my thumbnail for years like a caveman.

That's actually a palette knife, not a credit card. They're super cheap at art stores.
