Went to the antique mall in St. Louis and saw a whole booth of old, personalized work aprons.
It made me think that a custom, heavy-duty apron with someone's name or a shop logo stitched on it would be a way better gift than another mug or t-shirt for someone who works with their hands, has anyone else given something like that?

Honestly, that sounds like a nightmare gift to me. Getting a custom apron with my name on it would just feel like more work stuff following me home. Tbh, most people I know who work with their hands just want to be done with it at the end of the day, not wear a reminder. A gift should be for the person, not their job, you know? I'd be way happier with the mug.

Laura Lee gets it, my wife learned that lesson with truck stop mugs.

Laura Lee makes a good point about gifts that just remind you of work. My uncle was a mechanic and his wife got him a fancy set of wrenches for his birthday one year. He smiled and said thanks, but later told me it felt like she only saw him as the guy who fixed things. He really wanted a fishing rod. Sometimes people try too hard to connect a gift to your job instead of what you actually like to do for fun.
