Bought my partner a custom star map for our anniversary, cost about $75.

It was a nice thought, but the print quality was fuzzy and the framing felt cheap. Anyone have a go-to place for this kind of personalized art that doesn't look like it came from a vending machine?

Ever notice how the thought counts but the frame doesn't?

Yeah, the "thought counts" thing is real. My buddy got a birthday gift from his girlfriend, just a cheap keychain. He loved it because she remembered his favorite band from one conversation. Meanwhile, his dad gave him a fancy watch but got the date wrong on the engraving. The expensive one just sits in a drawer.

75 bucks for a fuzzy star map sounds about right unfortunately. I've noticed this pattern where people put the most thought into the cheapest thing they can slap together. @michael_patel said it perfect with that watch story, the expensive stuff just shows they paid for it while the cheap stuff shows they paid attention. That's the whole deal right there, the frame always feels cheap when the thought was the only real investment.
