Showerthought: My 'rare' crystal was just a quartz lookalike...

I picked up a clear, pointy rock thinking it was a fancy gem type... Showed it off to my geology buddy and he just smiled. Turns out it's plain old quartz, super common around here. Spent all that time admiring it for nothing... But hey, now I know quartz can fool you too.

Read something about how quartz is way more interesting than people give it credit for! It's in like everything from watches to electronics, so your rock is actually pretty cool. My cousin collects minerals and says quartz comes in wild colors and shapes that look expensive. Honestly common stuff can be the most beautiful sometimes.
