Just realized I've been telling people the wrong rock story for years
During a hike in the Badlands, I saw this giant dark boulder and got convinced it was a meteorite. I told all my trucker friends about my space rock, but a park ranger set me straight-it's just a glacial erratic. We still laugh about how I was so certain, and it's my go-to funny tale from that trip, lmao.

Had a rock in my desert photos for years, swore it was petrified wood. Showed a geologist friend who just goes "that's a weirdly shaped river stone, Liz." Felt so sure, right? It's funny how our brains lock onto an idea. Your Badlands story is the best kind of campfire tale.

Geologists are the ultimate buzzkills for amateur rock hype. You spend years building a whole story around your special petrified wood, and they just drop the "weird river stone" truth bomb with zero ceremony. The human brain is basically a conspiracy theory machine for random objects.
