Heard a guy at the trailhead say lockers are overrated unless you're rock crawling, then watched him get stuck in 3 inches of mud
I've been running open diffs on my JK for 5 years and it's gotten me through Vermont mud season and the Sandisfield ORV trails without a winch, so am I missing something or are air lockers just a flex for people who never learned to pick a line?

My 96 XJ with open diffs and some decent AT tires made it through three seasons of Colorado mountain passes before I finally got a rear locker. I think the guys who swear by lockers have never had to learn how to use momentum and pick a line that actually makes sense for their setup.

Wait, have you ever tried wheeling in the Pacific Northwest when it's been raining for a solid week straight? That's where I think momentum really gets interesting, like I was up near Snoqualmie Pass last spring and my buddy in his locked JK was spinning all over the place while my stock TJ just kind of floated through the muck on some old BFGs. But then again, pick the wrong line and you're stuck with no way out except a winch cable, which is a whole other story about the time I had to pull a guy out who was buried up to his frame in a mudhole near Cle Elum. He was running 35s and twin lockers, just hammering the gas and getting nowhere, and I'm there in my little rig just shaking my head...
