My neighbor Bob a retired mechanic told me I was overthinking my brake job and he was right

He just said 'son, if you can change a tire you can change pads and rotors, stop watching YouTube videos and just look at the parts' and after 4 hours of overanalyzing I had it done in 90 minutes flat, has anyone else had a simple job made way harder by reading too many tutorials?

Maybe it's just me but 4 hours of overthinking sounds like a lot for something that basic. Idk, sometimes the tutorials just make people second guess stuff they already know. Kind of feel like if you can read the directions on the box you're probably fine.

Oh come on, you're absolutely right. Everyone acts like you need a PhD to put together a bookshelf or hang a picture frame. I've seen grown adults freeze up because a tutorial told them to "measure twice" and suddenly they're out there with a laser level and a protractor. Meanwhile, my dad hung a whole kitchen cabinet set with a tape measure and a level from the 80s, took him like 45 minutes tops. It's like people are scared of making a mistake so they overthink themselves into paralysis instead.
