Why I stopped ignoring battery life tests in gadget reviews
I used to skip over battery life sections in reviews because I thought they were boring. Then my phone died during a hike, and I missed an important call. Now I always check how long a gadget lasts on a single charge. Reviewers who focus on real-world battery tests are the ones I trust. It's not just about numbers, it's about how the gadget works in daily use. If a review doesn't cover battery life well, I move on to another one.

Yeah, real-world tests are the only ones that matter anyway.

Disagree here @chen.amy. Those controlled lab tests can spot problems you'd never catch in the real world until it's too late. What if the real world just gets lucky?

That story about your phone dying on a hike hits home. I had my own tablet conk out right in the middle of a long train trip, and I was stuck with nothing to do for hours. It's those normal days, running errands or commuting, where you really feel a bad battery. Now a review that doesn't say how long something lasts while just browsing or watching videos feels useless to me. I need to know it will make it through my actual day.
