Unpopular opinion: Your smart speaker's location might be why it ignores you
I had mine near a noisy fan and it missed every command. Moving it to a quiet corner fixed everything.

Honestly that's true for so much tech now lol. Phones struggle with voice commands in loud cars, and even TV remotes get weird if you have too many things blocking the signal. We put these gadgets anywhere that looks nice without thinking about how they actually work. It's wild how often the fix is just moving something a few feet away from the noise.

Actually moving things around feels like putting a bandaid on bad design. If my phone's mic can't hear me over road noise, that's the phone failing at its basic job. Same with remotes that die if a decorative bowl is in the way. We bought these things to make life easier, not to play musical furniture every time they act up.

I mean, marknelson is totally right. My soundbar remote gives up if a book is on the coffee table, which feels like a joke. @mila_jenkins43 nailed it about us caring more where stuff looks nice than if it actually works. Maybe it's just me, but I spent ten minutes yesterday moving plants around so my smart lights would connect, and that's just dumb.
