Switched from YouTube reviews to written reviews for buying gadgets and it's way better
After getting burned on 3 bad headphone purchases from hyped YouTube reviews, I switched to reading text reviews on forums like this one and Wirecutter. The difference is night and day. YouTube reviewers get free stuff and push affiliate links, written reviews usually have more detail on real daily use. Has anyone else ditched video reviews for text?

Man, that's exactly it. The KSC75 thing is a perfect example because it strips away all the hype and just lets you hear what's actually going on in the music. I feel like @tarajenkins hit the nail on the head about that 6-month hinge report being worth more than any fancy review - that's the kind of real-world wear and tear you only get from someone who actually lives with the thing. Written reviews from regular folks catch all the little stuff like cable stiffness or button placement that a YouTuber rushing through a sponsored video would never mention. It's the difference between someone reading a script and someone who's been annoyed by the same rattle in their pocket for half a year. Once you start paying attention to those long-term owner reports, you realize how much video reviews gloss over the boring but important stuff.

Get yourself a pair of Koss KSC75s for $20 and a Fiio KA1 dongle. That combo taught me more about what I actually like in sound than any YouTuber's hype train ever could. After that I just check the forum threads for whatever price range I'm in, usually find someone who's owned the thing for 6 months and tells you about the hinge breaking or the pads falling apart. Text reviews always mention the little stuff that makes or breaks a daily driver.

Totally agree on the KSC75 gateway drug thing (it's real, ha). Real talk from long-term owners is the only way to catch those hidden dealbreakers. That 6-month hinge report saves more cash than any fancy review ever could.
