Remember when gadget reviews used to come from a single magazine you trusted?
I was setting up a new smart lock in my apartment last month and the install video from a top YouTube channel was completely wrong for my model, which cost me an extra hour. Has anyone else had a review steer them totally wrong recently?

My last smart plug setup video was for a different brand entirely.

Yeah that's the worst. My rule now is to always check the upload date first. A video from two years ago might be for a totally different version of the product. Found a better walkthrough by searching the exact model number with "install problem" after it.

Totally, the model number trick is a lifesaver. I also add "current version" to my searches now. What's the most outdated tutorial you've ever found?
