Rant: The new 'smart' coffee machine at my local diner is a total step back

I was at the Sunrise Diner in Springfield last week and they replaced their old Bunn brewer with a fancy touchscreen model. It took the server a full minute just to navigate the menu to start a pot, and the coffee tasted weak. In my experience, adding a screen to something simple just makes it worse. Has anyone else seen a gadget that made a simple task way harder?

Maybe it's just me but that sounds more like a training problem than a tech problem.

Right? Tech always overcomplicates the simple stuff.

I get where you're coming from about tech overcomplicating things, but I've had the opposite happen. A new system at my own local spot cut the wait time for a fresh pot in half. Sometimes the change is just about getting used to it.
