Just picked between two smart plugs for my home office setup

I needed a smart plug for my desk lamp and fan, and it came down to the Kasa Mini or the Wyze Plug. The Kasa was $2 cheaper at $12, but the Wyze had energy monitoring. I went with the Wyze because I wanted to see how much power my old lamp was really using. Setting it up took about five minutes with the app, and it works great with my voice assistant. The energy feature showed my lamp uses almost nothing, but my fan was a real power hog! It's been three weeks now and I haven't had a single disconnect. Has anyone else tried the energy tracking on smart plugs? Was it useful for you, or just a neat extra?

Honestly, who cares about a lamp's energy use? It's a lamp. The fan thing is kinda funny though.

My old lamp used to cost me about $30 a year, @phoenix_singh. It adds up when you have a few in the house. The fan part did make me laugh, though.

Gotta jump in here because I think phoenix_singh is kinda missing the point (no offense!). Energy tracking isn't just about the lamp's cost - it's about getting a baseline for everything in your office. I had the same thought until I plugged in my old space heater and saw it was pulling 1500 watts. That thing was costing me way more than I thought, especially in winter. The lamp might seem boring but it's good practice for figuring out which devices are actually worth upgrading to more efficient models. Plus, once you see the fan's power usage you can decide if you really need it running full blast all day.
