PSA: My shellac finish went from cloudy to clear after I moved my workbench.

I was finishing a maple dresser with a 2lb cut of dewaxed shellac in my garage, and the surface kept getting a milky haze even after 3 coats. I moved the piece to my basement bench last weekend, and the next coat dried perfectly clear. Has anyone else had a finish react badly to a specific room's conditions?

Ugh, garages are the worst for shellac... it's all about the humidity.

Weird! Bet it was the garage humidity. Shellac hates that, basements are usually way more stable.

Oh man, you're totally right! I had a tabletop do the same thing last summer, it was a mess.
