Finally got the hang of fixing that weird lacquer blush on a humid day

I was finishing a maple dresser in my garage in Portland last month, and the lacquer turned milky white right after I sprayed it. The humidity was way up, and I panicked. I grabbed my heat gun and gently warmed the surface from about a foot away, and the cloudiness just faded out. Has anyone else found a better fix for blush when you can't control the shop air?

What about adding a bit of retarder to your lacquer next time?

Adding retarder" just made me remember this disaster last summer. I tried to spray some clear coat on a really humid day and it just would not dry. Ended up with this weird, sticky mess that picked up every piece of dust in the garage. Had to sand the whole thing back and start over. Now I check the weather like a crazy person before I even open a can.

Sounds like maybe you're overthinking the weather thing.
