My switch to generic spices cut my grocery budget big time

I started buying only store-brand spices three months back. The savings add up fast, and my food still tastes amazing. Why does everyone act like fancy brands are worth the extra cash?

My mom's old spice rack was all name brand stuff, so I copied that for years. Figured out last fall that the store brand garlic powder in my cabinet was actually from two years ago and I never noticed a difference.

Read an article once that said a lot of generic spices come from the exact same bulk suppliers as the fancy jars. The main difference is sometimes the grind size, not the flavor. Your garlic powder story totally lines up with that.
