My grocery bill dropped by $40 a week after I started planning around the 'ugly' produce section

About two months ago, I noticed my local store had a new rack with discounted fruits and veggies that were a bit misshapen or had small marks. I decided to try building my meals around what was there each Tuesday, which is when they restock it. Last week, I got bell peppers, apples, and potatoes for half the regular price, and they were perfectly fine once I cut them up. It forced me to get creative with soups and stir fries based on what was cheap. Has anyone else found a specific store section or day that really cuts down their food costs?

Nah, that's a legit win. Forty bucks is forty bucks. My store does the same thing on Wednesdays.

Honestly that sounds like more trouble than it's worth. The time spent planning special trips and building meals around random items probably eats up the savings. It's easier to just buy normal produce on a regular schedule.

Yeah paige_ellis59 that's a solid point about the time trade-off. It's like a lot of modern "life hacks" where the fix ends up being more work than the original problem. You see it everywhere, people chasing a small win but burning way more energy than they save. The real trick is knowing when a shortcut actually makes your day easier or just adds more steps to feel clever. Sometimes the normal way is just the better way, lol.
