My grocery bill dropped $40 a week after I started shopping at 8pm

I used to hit the store on Saturday mornings and always paid full price. Then a friend told me to try going right before closing time on weeknights instead. Now I grab marked-down meat and bakery bread for half the price. Last week I got a whole roasted chicken for $3.50 just because it was near the sell-by date. It took about two weeks to figure out the best timing at my local Kroger. Has anyone else noticed certain days are better for markdowns?

You ever notice how Wednesday nights are gold for markdowns? I swear my local Publix does their meat markdowns on Wednesdays, and I've been loading up on ribeyes for like $6 a pack. I also found out the bakery marks down bread and bagels on Tuesday evenings, so I stock up and freeze them. Took me a solid month to nail down the pattern, but now I plan my dinners around whatever I scored cheap that week. That $3.50 chicken is a steal, I'd buy ten of those if I had the freezer space.

Man I gotta tell you about my buddy Chris. He found the same pattern at his Food Lion and went crazy one Wednesday buying like 15 packs of ground beef. Only problem was his freezer broke the next day and he had to cook 12 pounds of taco meat in one night, his wife was not happy lol.
