Changed my mind about making my own veggie broth from scraps
I thought it was a quick way to save cash, but simmering it down to a rich flavor without it tasting like compost water actually took me four separate tries over two weeks to get right.

Remember trying to make my own cold brew concentrate to save money. Figured it was just coffee grounds and water, how hard could it be? Ended up with bitter sludge for three weekends straight before I got the ratio and time right. Sometimes the simple DIY stuff has the steepest learning curve and you just have to waste a bunch of ingredients to figure it out.

It's like cooking rice or baking bread. The ingredients list is short but the margin for error is tiny. You can mess up a whole loaf by adding the water just a few degrees too warm. It's those basic skills that everyone assumes are easy until you burn your first batch of pancakes or end up with soup instead of stew. The simple stuff punishes you for not paying close attention.
