My 2005 iPod mini battery replacement went sideways, and I think everyone overhypes these fixes

Honestly, I tried swapping the battery on my old iPod mini last weekend, and the whole thing was a mess. People online make it sound so easy, but I cracked the case prying it open, and then the new battery didn't even fit right without shaving down the plastic. I ended up with a bricked iPod that won't charge now. Has anyone else had a simple project turn into a total failure like this?

Honestly, "overhyped" might be a strong word for something that barely works half the time.

Honestly hadn't even thought about it from an angle. The real problem isn't the battery tech itself, it's the logistics of having enough fully charged packs sitting around for everyone. You can build a great battery but if the station runs out you're still stuck waiting.
