Serious question, I always thought the old sand reclamation units were a waste of time.
I was cleaning up after a pour yesterday and heard Mike from the core room say he gets an extra 30% life out of his molding sand by running it through the old Simpson mixer twice. I tried it on a small batch today and the grain structure looked way better. How many of you guys are doing something similar with your reclaim systems?

Mike over in quality ran that same test last month and got similar results but our reject rate didnt change at all after a week. I think it depends a lot on what kind of binder system youre running, not just the grain shape.
