My core coat habit has the bay divided
I never skip it and my scrap pile shrunk. Some guys say it eats up clock time, what's your take?

Man, I've got a rep for being the slowest painter on the crew because I won't cut corners. But then I'm not the one buying more material after a botched job, right? That core coat saves so much headache down the line. Who cares if it adds an hour when it saves a day of rework? My guys give me grief, but their scrap piles are always bigger.

But what if the deadline means you can't add that hour? Sometimes getting it done good enough now beats perfect later.

See this all the time with quick fixes around the house. Use cheap tape on a leaky pipe instead of proper sealant, and you'll have a bigger mess when it bursts overnight. That extra trip to the hardware store now costs more time and money than doing it right the first time. People forget that deadlines often create more urgent deadlines later.
