Wasted years watching Space: 1999 wrong, just realized the order
I have been rewatching Space: 1999 on DVD and something felt off. The episodes kept jumping around and characters acted like they knew things they shouldnt. Then I looked up the actual intended episode order from the original 1975 season. Turns out the syndicated reruns and even some DVD sets scrambled the whole thing. I had been watching them out of sequence for like 10 years, thinking that was how the story went. The whole subplot with the planet Zennon makes way more sense in the proper order. How many of you checked if your copy has the right episode sequence or just watched whatever order was on the disc?

Total classic 70s syndication butcher job, ruins the whole buildup.

Those syndication cuts actually saved the show for me. I watched the original airing on a fuzzy antenna and the pacing was brutal - whole episodes built around a single routine call that went nowhere. The 70s cuts trimmed the fat, turning a 48 minute slog into a tight 22 minute story. Take season 3 episode 7 - the original had a 12 minute scene of the dispatcher just shuffling papers. The syndicated version kept the radio chatter and the key punchline, left the dead air on the cutting room floor. I get the purist argument but honestly most people don't have the patience for that slow burn style anymore.
