The notes I got from a retired writer about my old 'Space Precinct' fan script
I wrote a fan script for 'Space Precinct' back in the 90s after the show got cancelled and found an old forum where a retired TV writer read it. He told me I was using WAY too many technobabble terms that didn't mean anything, like 'quantum flux stabilizer' and 'hypercore matrix.' So I went back and cut out over 20 nonsense words, replacing them with actual dialogue about cops doing their jobs. Has anyone else tried rewriting an old show script with real writer feedback?

Ha, nothing like old pro feedback to kill your favorite made-up words.

Back in 2018 I had this word "harbinged" that got shot down by some old timer. Three years later it showed up in a major fantasy novel and nobody batted an eye. The pros are just gatekeeping the dictionary from the inside. Look at how "adulting" went from slang to subreddit to Merriam-Webster in under a decade. So really who's the authority here, the people who make the rules or the people who actually use the words?
