The fact that everyone hates the last season of That 70s Show is wrong

I was talking to my buddy Mike after work at the shop last Friday, and he said he actually liked season 8 because it showed how the group fell apart naturally after high school. That hit different because I always just jumped on the bandwagon of hating Randy and the whole Kelso-less vibe. Now I think people are too hard on it. Has anyone else gone back and found they actually didn't hate a forgotten season as much as they thought?

Nah bro I gotta hard disagree here. Season 8 was straight up painful to watch because they tried way too hard to fill the hole Kelso left with Randy, and that dude had zero chemistry with anyone. Plus the whole Eric being gone thing made the basement scenes feel empty, you know? The show ran its course and that last season was just them treading water.

Oh man, @hall.nora I gotta say I feel you on this one. I mean, I actually tried to defend season 8 at first because I wanted to believe it could still work without Eric and Kelso, but Randy was just such a forced replacement. Every scene with him felt like the writers were holding up a sign that said "please like this guy" and it just fell flat. And yeah, the basement dynamic was totally off without Eric's whole awkward charm anchoring everything. I think they would have been better off just ending it a season earlier instead of trying to patch things up.
