Rant: I wrote off 'The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.' as pure nonsense for way too long.

I always thought the cowboy-meets-sci-fi premise was just stupid when I caught reruns as a kid. Giving it another shot as an adult, I finally saw the genius in its goofy, pulpy fun. What forgotten show did you totally misjudge before?

We do this with so much stuff, not just shows. Our first take is often just a gut reaction, and we miss the layers. What else have you changed your mind on after a second look?

Bruce Campbell's charm in Brisco County is what makes the sci-fi stuff work. Honestly, calling it pure nonsense misses how smart the writing is. Tbh, I wrote it off too until I noticed all the historical jokes mixed in. The show is a love letter to old serials, not just random goofiness. Ngl, it took me a rewatch to see how they balanced comedy and action. Giving it another shot was the best move I made.

Honestly, you're mostly right but the charm isn't the only thing holding it together. Tbh, the sci-fi elements are baked into the theme of change in the West. Ngl, some historical references are way off, but that's intentional for the comedy. It's a mash-up that respects the old serials while doing its own weird thing. Giving it a rewatch really shows how clever the balance is.
