My friend said 'The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.' was just a weird western, so I made him watch the time travel episode.

He called it a mess, but I pointed out the show was always mixing genres, and that's why it got canceled after one season in 1993. Now he thinks it was ahead of its time, and I think it was just too weird for a Friday night. Which forgotten shows do you think were actually too strange for their own good?

Too weird for its own good" is exactly right, that show was like someone handed Bruce Campbell a random grab bag of sci-fi scripts and said "just go with it." I mean, that orb thing was basically a magic MacGuffin that did whatever the plot needed, and they had a freaking time traveler show up in episode 13. @rileyfox is lucky his buddy tried to buy the orb at a garage sale, because knowing that prop it probably turned into a toaster halfway through the transaction. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Brisco County Jr. would have been a huge hit on streaming today where people actually appreciate stuff that doesn't make sense.

Only one season? I watched that show every week and I swear it was on for years. My memory must be totally fried. It was so weird but in a good way, like they threw every cool idea they had into one show. That's probably why it didn't last, networks back then wanted simple stuff you could follow while doing chores. I still miss that weird orb thing and Bruce Campbell just rolling with all the madness.

My buddy swears he saw the orb prop at a garage sale once but his mom wouldn't let him buy it.
