Rant: A client in Austin told me my glue lines were 'sloppy as heck' last month.
They pointed out a spot where I had used too much adhesive and it squeezed up through the plank seams. I switched to using a 1/4 inch V-notch trowel for that specific engineered wood and it made a HUGE difference. What's the most direct piece of job site feedback you've ever gotten that actually made you better?

That kind of blunt feedback stings, but it forces a real fix. Getting the right trowel for the material is a game changer. It turns a weak spot into a point of pride on the next job.

Man, I used to think a trowel was just a trowel. A client once told me my grout lines looked like a toddler did them, and it was a real wake-up call. I was using the wrong size for the tile and rushing the clean-up. @blair626 is right, that sting forces a real fix. Now I match the trowel to the material every single time, no shortcuts. It saves so much headache on the back end.
