Lost $150 on cheap adhesive that bubbled up after 3 days
I grabbed a budget glue from a discount store for a living room install and within 72 hours the planks were peeling up. Totally had to tear it out and start over with proper stuff. Has anyone else had a vinyl plank fail from using the wrong adhesive?

Man I felt this one in my bones. "Within 72 hours the planks were peeling up" - that's exactly what happened to me when I tried to save $40 on some no-name glue from a liquidation store. My kitchen floor looked like a failed art project with bubbles everywhere. I was so mad I kicked one of the planks and it flew across the room like a frisbee. Sometimes you just gotta learn the hard way that cheap glue is basically sticky water in a bottle. I still have half a tube of that garbage sitting in my garage as a constant reminder of my cheapness.

I used to tell myself spending $30 on generic glue was "just as good" but after watching my whole living room floor bubble up inside a week I finally got it through my thick skull that cheap adhesive is a trap. Never again.

My buddy Mike bought some cheap glue from a salvage place to do his basement floor. He laid down about 400 square feet of vinyl plank over a long weekend and by Tuesday morning the whole thing was rippling like ocean waves. He walked in with his coffee, saw it, and just stood there staring for a solid minute. He ended up having to rent a floor scraper and spend three days chiseling all that gummy residue off the concrete. Said it was the most defeated he'd ever felt over a home project. Now he only buys the expensive stuff and swears by it.
