Just read something wild about old linoleum glue

I was looking up how to prep a 1950s kitchen floor in Portland and found out some of that black mastic can have up to 5% asbestos. I always knew to be careful with it, but seeing that exact number from a state health site made me pause. What's your go-to method for dealing with that stuff safely?

In my experience, wetting the glue down with a spray bottle before scraping kept the dust from going airborne. @jordanl82 people did get away with it for years, but I've seen too many guys in construction with lung issues later on to skip the mask and wet method now. Just read your state's health site and sealed off the room with plastic sheeting to be safe.

Honestly that asbestos talk is overblown. People scraped up that glue for decades without masks and turned out fine.

The CDC says asbestos kills over 12,000 Americans a year. Those old glues are a main reason for that.
