Finally gave up on the old knee kicker for a big carpet job

Had a 2,000 square foot office to do in Phoenix last week and decided to rent a power stretcher for the main area. The knee kicker was fine for the small rooms, but for that big open space, the power stretcher got the tension PERFECT and cut my time in half. My back is thanking me today. Anyone else made the switch and noticed a huge difference on large commercial jobs?

My buddy in Tucson swears by his power stretcher for anything over a thousand square feet. Says the difference in the final look is night and day.

Hannah hit the nail on the head about callbacks, those are the worst. That even tension from a power stretcher really does pay off in the long run, especially on big open floors. Your back and your customer will thank you for making the switch, trust me.

Honestly the biggest difference I noticed was in the carpet's lifespan on those high traffic areas. A power stretcher gets that initial tension so much more even, so you don't get those ripples and re-stretches showing up after a year like you sometimes do with a kicker. It feels like a pain to rent the bigger tool at first, but it saves so many callbacks.
