The best deals are always in the last 30 minutes before close.
I was at the Springfield flea market last Sunday, ready to leave at 2 PM. A vendor had a box of old tools marked $50 that I'd looked at earlier. At 2:30, he saw me walking by and said 'Give me $15 and take the whole thing.' I got three good wrenches and a vintage hammer worth way more. Why do people pack up so early and leave money on the table?

Saw my buddy get a whole bike rack for five bucks that way.

Yeah, it's not always about not wanting to load the truck. Sometimes they just need to hit the road to beat traffic or get home. That last half-hour can be pure chaos for them.

I've had the same experience at my local swap meet. I make a point to circle back to a few booths right before closing time. Vendors would rather make a small sale than pack everything up and haul it back home. Last month I got a solid wood desk for twenty bucks because the guy didn't want to load it back on his truck. It's pure convenience for them at that point.
