I finally stopped buying old tools at the flea market after a guy in Springfield showed me his busted knuckles.

Springfield's got some rough flea markets but busted knuckles seem extreme. My uncle's used the same rusted pipe wrench for 30 years without a trip to the ER. Maybe that guy just had really bad luck or was using tools way outside what they were meant for.

Old tools can be dangerous if you don't know what to look for. That guy's busted knuckles probably saved you from worse.
