Had a chat with a 70 year old flea market vendor who told me I'm buying all the wrong furniture
He said I should stop chasing mid-century modern and look for solid wood pieces from the 1920s-40s instead, because those will outlast everything else and actually hold value, and honestly it made me rethink my whole approach to decorating.

Oh, I have to disagree, those old pieces are sturdy but mid-century modern has plenty of solid stuff that holds value too.
