Found my 100th piece of Pyrex for under five bucks

I was digging through a bin at the Springfield flea market last Saturday and pulled out a yellow 404 mixing bowl. I checked the price tag and it was three dollars. That was the exact moment I realized I've bought one hundred pieces of vintage Pyrex, and not one of them cost more than five bucks. It took me six years of hitting markets early and always checking the junk boxes. Anyone else track a specific collection number like that?

I used to think you had to pay a premium for the good Pyrex patterns. But I found a blue snowflake casserole for four bucks at a church rummage sale last fall, and it totally changed my mind. It's all about the hunt, I guess.

Four bucks for a blue snowflake? That's the kind of find that ruins you for regular shopping. Now every thrift store trip feels like a treasure hunt where you're just hoping to spot that little bit of vintage color on a dusty shelf. Passing up plain white dishes feels like a moral victory. My kitchen cabinets are basically a museum of other people's old casserole dishes now.
